vacuum or electric?

The entire glove box and lower panel must be pulled out to access. Before you begin this job, check the vacuum line in the engine bay that powers your air conditioner. If your A/C selector is stuck in defrost mode (no face or leg selection), it's most likely the selector door is not getting a vacuum.

Wrong part for 97-98 Corvette

Good replacement but both Revain and Dorman websites list this Dorman 604-107 block as suitable for 97-04 Corvette C-5. No, that is not so; should have been P/N 604-106. The OEM block is shown on the right and the Dorman block on the left. There should be 2 pins on the left with a space and 3 pins on the left. Note that -107 only has 4 pins on the left.

  • Good price
Cons

Good detail, fits 1995 GMC Suburban.

The 1995 GMC Suburban was just blowing hot air and some investigation showed it was the right part to fix that. The research was correct. Removing the coin compartment and cup holder was all I had to do to get to the part and replace it. Really glad I didn't have to open the entire dashboard, but that's not really a feature of this piece. Although that's the good part. It works great and the truck blows cold and hot air when it should.

Used to replace a broken vent flap on my 1995 C1500 Silverado

Used to replace a broken vent flap on my 1995 C1500 Silverado. You need to set the setting to "Floor" mode to get the center of this air door. I had to tap the old air door with a screwdriver handle to "wake it up". After the old one is centered, I loosen the 2 screws and the connector. Replaced the bad one with a new one. Installed the screws and reconnected the wiring harness. Now it works fine. I will update if necessary.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Dull packaging

Easy install, easy fix to annoying problems

I bought this to try and fix a problem I've had with my '98 Chevy K1500 for about 3 years where the air just stopped blowing (usually by trying to bleed them, and sometimes just like that without shifting anything). I moved it thinking it would be a lot of work (difficult to reach and work with) but found it very easy to replace - took about 10 minutes total. I was very happy with the price paid and the quality seems fine. The original felt better, heavier and wasn't all plastic like this one…

Fixed issue with no air escaping from front panel vents

I usually only buy Delco OEM AC parts but since it doesn't control anything major and Delco is twice the price I figured I would would there be try Dorman. If it didn't work I might return it to Revain. My problem was that sometimes when I turned on the air it wouldn't come out of the front vents but you could hear the air making a loud whistle. This actuator controls where the air exits (legs or faceplate). Mine was basically stuck between the vents so it blew into the dash. The swap on my '96

Works great (Chevy/GMC pickup owners - installation tips!)

DYI: Fits perfectly on my 1995 GMC K1500 (like the Chevy version). PIECE: A piece of the same size/shape as the original with one exception. The main bushing attached to the gearbox was the original metal and plastic combination I had read about and I broke it easily as the two materials heated and cooled at different rates. The new part is completely made of plastic, which can actually be an advantage and avoid this problem. INSTALLATION: The instructions provided are vague and visiting the…
