Must have a washable liner. The foam seams irritated me and are clunky on the inside. Heavy foam is likely to be chewed by most rodents. My daughter used it for two sugar gliders this weekend. It's beautiful from the outside. The addition of a rolled up washcloth made it appear very small inside.
