I know this is an odd review because we haven't actually used these pillowcases as pillowcases, but we're still happy with them! After reading a study showing that a combination of 600 thread count cotton with flannel in homemade face masks was almost as good as N-95 for filtration, we bought it for that purpose. They're smooth enough, I'm sure they're just as comfortable on pillows, but if you're making homemade masks, they're great. And pillowcases generally work very well. Just cut them shorter, a little more than you want your mask to be top to bottom, and cut them in half. Sew or use fabric glue to close the open end against the fold and sew or glue the bottom. Each fragment gives you two double layer masks. We get 6 for a pillowcase. This also leaves an open top pocket where we'll put the flannel fabric (but you can use any filter you want). Attach ear hooks or straps and you're done. We don't even fasten them all the time. We use very long hair ties, thread them on each side, thread them through ourselves and clip to our ears. Saves rubber band when it's hard to find and you can swap it out for whatever suits you.
