Review on 🎧 Etymotion Wireless Bluetooth Cable with AKM Velvet Sound DAC and Amplifier by Etymotic, ERETYMOTION-BT, Black by Christopher Gulledge

This is proof that Etymotic is an audio company and not a product design company. There are so many weird fixes in this product that I will briefly touch on. The short version of this review reads: no matter how serious you are about sound quality, you should probably buy another cheaper built-in headset instead as it's not worth it, except in most niche cases where you're better off leaving wired headphones. When using this product, installing it on myself before a session or removing it afterwards, or while controlling or charging music, I feel like I'm listening to a twenty minute discussion that created the product requirements document, and chirping silence. which, with hindsight, attests to the lack of discussion on the subject. This product appears not to have been tested or reviewed internally at all. The separate battery is centered on the wire, which I think is a good thing as it offers decent battery life. But it's also heavy enough that you have to clip it to your shirt or else it'll dangle and tug at your ears. Strange choice. If you don't snap it, it will rustle and you will hear an incredible amount of noise. It's also wide enough to technically fit a standard Etymotic case, it's narrow enough to be hard to get in there, and when you do it will knock over cables that don't have a strain relief, so I'm pretty sure that carrying it in the case provided will damage the cables over time, and especially when you have those awful little plastic clips that need to be where they should be to help with the sound during use - right next to the packaging. Really confusing. The three-button controller inexplicably works differently than what seems to be the standard for this sort of thing. Holding down the volume buttons doesn't jump back and forth. When you charge it there is an amazingly bright light coming not only from the plastic emitter but also from the USB port giving them a fake look and feel. it should cost $7.99. It uses USB micro. This is a novelty from a high-tech audio company. I know people have divided opinions on this from a utilitarian point of view, but, At the very least, USB-C is a sign of care and investment on the part of the creator. Audio quality on calls is as good as most (probably Bluetooth's fault, not Etymotic's), with two bonuses: a bewildering amount of static and the constant and confusing echo of my own voice. All this because I wanted to receive a Bluetooth signal. to my Etymotic headphones because I know they are of good quality. I wish I had just bought another $30 headset to replace it. I wish someone would make a Bluetooth cable with 90° MMCX connectors to completely replace this product. I wish I knew about this before I even bought $80 headphones. All in all, I spent about $190 for a really mediocre experience. It doesn't matter what you pay $75,000 for a Pinto with a blown head gasket ("big per gallon, works great!") just to round out their $30,000 race tires. All in all, it's a good way to listen to music via Bluetooth on the go in a noisy car, as long as you don't move too much. Can't recommend it otherwise.
