This unit was installed on a 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500 with BOSE -System Installed (Analog Amplifier, OnStar, XM Radio) I called tech support because I had a few questions about the installation guide. Some wires were not mentioned, but that didn't matter since not all were used. My Avalanche already had additional tension applied to the wiring harness, so I didn't need to install the additional RED wire listed in the installation guide. I just wanted to check why these wires were not used. The wiring harness leads and the 16-pin radio connector are simply docked. I installed the AX-GMCL2-SWC with a Kenwood DDX9703S 2-DIN in-dash car radio DVD/CD/AM/FM with a 6.95" touchscreen, integrated HD radio and Apple Carplay. Just a few issues with my setup; My dimmer control does not work when the appropriate cables are connected. Not sure if it's the CL2 wiring harness, the radio, or the wiring from the Avalanche. The dimmer worked perfectly with the factory radio. The workaround is to turn off the dimmer feature for full brightness during the day and turn it back on for dimmed mode at night. This temporary workaround is fine for now until I can identify the problem. The color coding was correct on both the factory wiring harness and the radio. very narrow slot when unprotected so a standard HDMI port will not fit. I have to order a very thin HDMI connector for the mirroring feature to work. All other functions of the radio work properly. Pandora, Spotify, iPod mode with my iPhone 7. Some of my playlists are empty and it says 'no content'. I suspect this firmware does not recognize iPhone playlists. My BMW had a software update that fixes this problem so I may have to call Kenwood to see if I can get that update. Phone calls are clear with the included microphone. When I use my iPhone for NAV, the volume of the currently playing song drops slightly when voice guidance is given. (Nice feature) I installed a panel USB connector so I can connect my iPhone for charging and audio streaming. Calls played on the GMCL2 interface sound the same as the factory tone, and the volume can be adjusted with a small potentiometer on the box. Onstar volume can be adjusted using the volume up/down buttons on the steering wheel. All functions on the steering wheel work and can be changed if necessary. I left them as is as they duplicated the factory 6 CD changer/radio/XM settings etc. I also installed an SXV300v1 XM radio unit on a DDX9703 which worked straight out of the box. I haven't tested the DVD playback mode yet, I don't know why sit in the car and watch DVD? I have the included GPS antenna installed on the 9703 but am not sure what function it will give me other than automatically setting the time on the watch in the event of a power failure. There is no navigation or map mode on the DDX9703. (You need to install additional hardware to use this feature). I only use my iPhone for this function.
