Review on Brund Easycut Knife Cutlery Black by Brooke Nelson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality knife - magnetic strip ok

I am listing this item at the current price of €20. magnetic strip ok; I'm not keen on the plastic brackets and the cumbersome attachment mechanism where you can't really tighten either attachment screw (since it has to slide), but it has weight and looks like a decent build; I would give this component 4/5. But knives are another matter entirely. On the plus side, I like the handle material, the design aesthetic, and they were sharp out of the box (but it didn't last long). However, the downsides are overwhelming: > extremely cheap looks > thinnest blades I've ever seen (and I have several knives under $5): The chef's knife - the largest - is 1.5mm thick (all other chef's knives made I own are 2.0mm or thicker)! > inferior steel; they flex VERY and don't hold edges; I don't know what alloy they use, but to me it seems softer than even the x30Cr13> processing: there are pressure marks on the handles very close to the bolster, apparently meant to keep the handle on the blade; They appear to be 1/4 hot at best. To me, they're marginally better than $1 knives at best; I would never buy them if I saw them and they put me off the "brund" and "scanpan" brands - [and be aware that for many years I"classic" scan knife and was very happy with it]. I rate knives 0/5 and the result is 2/5.
