Cobra's three-image digital scanner works, but its usefulness is limited. While slide mounts have a fixed size, the actual film can be one of at least three sizes, which I'll simply call small, medium, and large. The small slide has a wide edge and the large slide has a narrow edge. It looks like the slide adapter is meant for something in the medium sized slide. As a result, large slides like the ones you can buy at Disneyland, Yosemite, or other tourist traps can be severely cropped, resulting in a loss of subject. This is not good. I'm thinking of finding a small machine shop in town that could cut the plastic off the frame to hold a large film slide. Perhaps Cobra offers an adapter for larger slides? (For emphasis: the outer frame dimensions are the same for all slides. Only the film size differs.) The Cobra also disappoints in that it has a rather small digital sensor, which results in small images. This is just about enough for a medium-sized slide, but the result is a very small image for small slides. It does the job but is rather disappointing. Don't look for full screen images of Cobra. He really needs a much larger digital sensor. Overall, I think the 3-star rating is justified. It works pretty much as advertised, but there's certainly plenty of room for improvement.
