Review on Discover Acer XF272 Xbmiiprzx: FreeSync Technology, 1920X1080, 240Hz, High Dynamic Range by Tristan Warren

Revainrating 4 out of 5

one of the best 240hz monitors currently on the market for the price

On the benq xl2411z 144hz monitor, this thing is noticeably smoother. The main reason I bought this monitor is that it's one of the first to use a 2nd Gen 240Hz panel at a reasonable price and in my experience the faster response time of the new panel definitely makes up for its cost worth. I've previously tried the Alienware 240hz which uses an old panel and it was a good monitor but it had noticeable ghosting which I couldn't live with. Its colors are pretty nice, but I haven't really spent much time setting it up, but the reason you buy this monitor is for performance, not picture quality. The monitor can also strobe up to 240Hz, which isn't even advertised, but that's a pretty handy feature that most older 240Hz monitors can't, save for the benq xl2546. I've had 2 negatives so far with this monitor and that's why I deducted a star, one of the sharpening options in the OSD is kind of garbage because there are weird extra lines around certain images that are annoying and the only option is a- or turn off which you need to turn on, otherwise the picture will be a little blurry. On my bench you have a wider sharpness setting which I lack. My second issue with this monitor is that my Vesa monitor arm doesn't work with it because it doesn't fit in the square cutout on the back of the monitor, so I'm forced to use the stand that comes with it. I would say this monitor is worth beating all previous generation 240hz monitors especially for the price except maybe the benq xl2546 as it has an excellent backlight.

Pros
  • Great monitor, easy to use, my son loves it...
Cons
  • Item had dead pixels on arrival. The picture wasn't very good for a TN monitor either.
