First of all, yes, these things lose horribly on the first wash/dry. Lint got on everything in the washing machine. I decided to check my dryer lint filter about 10 minutes into the drying cycle (I clean it before every load). In these 10 minutes they were completely filled. After washing they looked a little torn and there were a few loose threads which I ripped, but once dry they are perfectly fine beach towels. They are definitely not see through and dry great after a swim in the sea. They also dry pretty quickly. No, these aren't the softest things in the world and you'll probably be disappointed in your first wash. But for a towel that gets soiled with sand in the back seat of a car and used elsewhere, it's perfect. What the heck do you expect for so little money?
