Not very smooth Fit a bit uncomfortable

My boyfriend doesn't like the fit of this hat even though I bought his typical size. We almost got him back but he really likes wearing hats, I think it's like a protective blanket for him. In any case, I hope that when it breaks, it will become smoother. It just doesn't fit right. And the price could have been better, but he would benefit. Many Thanks
