Review on πŸͺ‘ Convenient and Compact: Rothco Folding Camp Stool for Outdoor Adventures by Matt Conner

Small + Comfortable + SpaceSaver

I bought this stool while traveling for the weekend because sometimes there is nowhere to sit on a nice observation deck. The stool was smaller than I thought it would be, with the seat about a foot off the ground, so it's pretty low (my 5-10 inches) but not where I have to strain (ie 6 inches) to get back up. The natural position with this stool is to sit forward with your elbows resting on your knees. What I like best is that it folds and packs flat, taking up almost no space in my backpack. It's like putting a spiral bound notebook in your backpack. There's even a zippered pocket so it doesn't snag anything else. Assembly is fairly easy, but you have to lay the stool on its side and gently push until the clasps connect. This seems to be the reason for such a tight connection (the clasps seem too short at first glance) so that the seat is strong and the clasp has enough tension. The steel construction seems quite strong, which I like. However, I can see someone getting frustrated with the tight adjustment could. But do it a few times and you won't think twice about it. After installation, the fabric seat becomes very tight, so much so that I wondered if it would rip while sitting. The canvas is quite thin but has a thin coating on the bottom and the seams are double stitched. I confess that I sat down slowly and carefully and only weigh about 160 pounds. I'm pretty sure if someone tried to jump on him quickly they would most likely be blown to bits, especially heavy people. I would have preferred a thicker, stronger weave or double weave. All you have to do is gently sit down on the stool. So far I haven't had any problems, but if I have any I'll let you guys know. this stool.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
