Review on Walway Folding Tripod Release Camcorder by Kenny Sarma

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Lightweight plastic head Z. Broke within 48 hours.

I am an amateur photographer/videographer (read: rank) and purchased this as part of a setup for my smartphone so I can film my daughter's gymnastics using the Coaches' Eye app. Since portability is important to me, I appreciated that this piece was made out of plastic and not aluminum. Normally I would prefer the weight and strength but the weight savings is a blessing as I wear this head on my rig every day. Not only is it a functional tripod head, it also serves effectively as a stand. So if I need to set up my phone to record videos, I don't need to have a tripod handy. There are four articulations on this head that I've identified as possible sources of error; They can be clamped/adjusted for resistance using the included hex wrench. Surprisingly, I had trouble getting the connections at the base tight enough to hold my smartphone without breaking; The other two connections were strong and secure (and didn't even need to be tightened). I'm hoping a bit of blue Loctite on the connecting bolts will eliminate their tendency to loosen prematurely. Overall I'm happy with this Z head. Update: Within 48 hours one of the plastic washers used as part of the hinge broke. . I was still having trouble tightening the bolts for the primary links enough. Metal fittings for hinges can solve this problem. Rating changed from 4 to 2 stars.
