I'm a little apprehensive when ordering cheap electronics from China because the rave reviews can't be trusted and there are so many people getting expired products (I got burned a few times). It's not upconverted so you'll have to adjust your HDTV to get the correct screen aspect ratio, but other than that it worked fine. I tested mine with our old Hi-8, N64 and PS1 camcorder and they all looked great on screen and sounded good in stereo. The device itself is very small and easily hidden behind my wall mounted TV. Installation is easy and took 1 minute. Simply connect the HDMI port to your TV, the AV port to your device, and the USB power port to the USB port on your TV, and you're good to go. Alternatively, you can plug the USB port into a wall outlet for power, and AV cables come with an adapter so you can switch between male and female connections; This is important because you can either connect it directly to a device, like a VCR or other component, or to a device, like a camcorder or gaming system. Conclusion: The item I received works well, hides well, easy to install and use. I'm buying a second set for my wife's grandfather so he can browse through old VCRs and Hi-8s. I recommend it if you get a working product that works well and as advertised. So far happy with the device.
