So that was my first review: Please read the UPDATE. The device got a lot better after first turning it on. We understand this is radiant heat and not an air heater, but it's not doing the job. We installed it in our office where the three of us live most of the day so we can turn off the heating at home. Even with it set to 80, my wife, 6ft from the heater, is still cold. Previously we used a convection heater at around 65-67 degrees. Heater to remove side covers and heat may spread further. Does anyone have experience with it? UPDATE: MUCH IMPROVED PERFORMANCE After three days of continuous use we decided to turn the unit off, flip it over and check how the side rail connects. to the device to see if we can just unscrew it. Well, the "fence" as I call it is an integral part of the unit itself, it doesn't unscrew. Good. So we turn the device right side up, plug it back in and turn it back on. An hour later it got really hot. Now the device keeps this room sufficiently warm. In fact, you can feel the warmth in the hallway approaching this room. I can't explain why the performance improved after shutting down and shutting down, but it did. Perhaps customer service or a tech can step in and tell you why the unit got so much hotter the second time around. When the device finally warmed up, it gave off a faint smell. Not exactly a bad smell, but ironically it smelled like something new, metallic and hot. After a few hours the smell went away. Now the smell is completely gone. We also noticed a few tiny "pings" and "pops" when we first turned on the device. Nothing surprising. If it weren't for the quiet in the room, we wouldn't have heard them. Maybe four or five pings in the first two minutes of power. After that, the device is silent. I mean it's really quiet. If you're considering using such a radiant heat unit as a replacement for a noisy ceramic heater, you could do a lot worse. I love how quiet this unit is. I mean he's calm. And he does his job. This office, where we spend most of our waking hours, is cozy and warm. You don't even notice that the heating is on, you just feel good. You don't hear it, and you don't feel the hot hit or blow of a hair dryer on you like a ceramic heater or centralized forced ventilation. You only realize it when you leave the room, freeze and run back to the comfort of that warm office. If you read this review a week ago, I hope you also read this update. I can purchase a second unit for the cavernous master bath in this home. We will come back to this review a few years later. Now I have five of these devices and today I will order two more. We no longer boil water on the stove to keep the air indoors comfortable because we are not exposed to the hot, dry air from our central forced ventilation system. I have one unit in each bedroom, one in the main bathroom and one in the office. Today I'm ordering two passes for the cave cave, one for each end of the room.
