Review on Inferno Stove Top Thermometer (3-30) - Precision Temperature Measurement for Stove Tops by Robin Williams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Went from 2 stars to 4 stars after the laser test.

UPDATE: After purchasing a laser temperature sensor I found this thermometer to be pretty accurate. It's within 50 degrees of the laser so I'd say it's pretty accurate. I have changed my rating to 4 stars based on new testing. NOT EXACTLY! I wanted to upgrade from the Rutland I bought to one that is more readable from a distance. I chose Inferno based on the reviews but they weren't what I expected at all. After first use, the Inferno was 150-200 degrees hotter than the Rutland. I figured my old Rutland must be far away so I decided to check them out. I tested both units in an electric oven and Rutland did excellent on the 300, 350 and 450. The inferno was 150 degrees warmer! The Rutland I have now was a replacement for the same model that was dented when I hit it with a cast iron kettle (it worked but looked broken so I wanted a new one). Even the crumpled two Rutlands read the same thing side by side. I'm very disappointed with Inferno as the quality seemed very good but the performance was far away. I'm blown away by the difference and have uploaded a side by side photo to show the difference (a 200 degree difference is insane). I would not recommend this product.
