Nice Matte Finish, some application tips, and a minor complaint.

Overall Impression:-I am very happy with the purchase, it wasn't too hard to apply and gives a nice layer of protection to the screen. The matte aspect is nice and is reminiscent of the old Apple Powerbook G4 laptops that had a matte screen. It does a good job of reducing glare and is significantly less prone to smudging than before. One issue--which I suspected might occur--is that the crispness of the colors and lines are slightly diffused and there is a mild pixelating/grainy affect on lighter colors; at first I thought this might bother me, but after a week I stopped noticing it--instead I started noticing how everyone else's glossy laptops screens looked so much dingier than mine.Unexpected Bonus:-My screen had some very light "etching" on it; all those marks disappeared with the screen protector and did not create any bubbles. The reason I wanted a screen protector in the first place was that I noticed the keyboard was starting to etch faint square marks on the screen that could not be cleaned off.Notes on Application:1. Ensure that your screen is actually clean before application. I wiped it down with a damp microfiber to clear any fingerprints and smudges and then a dry one to clear dust. Also, do this on a hard surface like a table that you have also wiped down for dust (this reduces any "atmospheric dust from settling on the screen you just cleaned).2. Lay the screen protector over the screen to make sure it is aligned correctly, then gently placed taped at the top corners of the protector and wrapped the tape around the top lid of the laptop (creating a hinge of sorts that held the alignment in place).3. Lift the aligned protector and cleared any new dust off the screen with compressed air and peel "Side 1" of the protector off and then placed it on the screen. Try to start top down so you avoid large bubbles in the middle of the screen. Then remove any remaining bubbles with the scraper they gave.4. Then removed the tape you aligned the protector with, along with "Side 2" of the protector.Minor Complaint:-The screen protector isn't a precise fit, it seems to have been cut slightly off and a fractional amount of the original screen is still exposed along both the width and length.

Pros
  • Did take sthe glare away, was a good buy.
Cons
  • The protectors make the screen appear frosted
