Review on ViewSonic TD2230 10 Point Touchscreen Monitor, DisplayPort 1920X1080P, 76Hz, LED - VIEWSONIC INC by Justin Hammonds

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not bad for a (relatively) cheap touchscreen of this size.

Essentially, I bought the cheapest 1080p 16:9 "brand name" touchscreen I could find. I wanted the touchscreen for the DVR monitor to eliminate the need for a keyboard/mouse to randomly access things like viewing recordings or zooming in on a live feed. All in all it's pretty good. I removed the asterisk because the touchscreen controller seems to go into some sort of "standby" state when idle and may require an extra press to "wake it up" and start logging hits in Windows. I'm not seeing this behavior on any other touchscreen connected to Windows, so I'm assuming it's a bug with the ViewSonic controller you're using. I love that they used an edge-to-edge touchpad so you can easily touch targets on the edge of the viewing area. It is compatible with a standard VESA mount, and the easel's built-in kickstand also helps with cable management for wall mounting. Most importantly, the viewing angle of this display is easily 165-170°, which is impressive for a touchscreen of this size. ! Ideal for security monitors and other high visibility applications. EDIT: I found the cause of the touchscreen problem: the USB3 hub in this monitor through which the touchscreen controller is connected seems to go into standby mode. After a while the USB hub will blink when powered on and then turn back on, which will RESET EVERYTHING connected to that hub. After this brief reset, the touchscreen begins to respond. I found this after trying to plug something else into one of the available ports and it turns off and on again every time I wake up the monitor (there is power while on and off then blinks and turns on again when you touch the screen). . For this reason I deducted the second star.
