TL:DR? Waste of time and money; it melted in the oven after working hard for THREE HOURS! (also, it’s a little much for just one kid to make). The Kit:This kit comes with everything needed to make the little alien inspired erasers and a detail instruction booklet. There are four (4) different bricks of eraser clay that need to be well kneaded before use and sizing guides on each of 15 projects to help determine the amount of clay for use. A handy little tool is included with one end more of a scraper/line making tool and the other designed specifically to produce smiley faces (no stress, instant smile!). A set of little black eyes (30 total) comes in a separate baggie. The Make:Ugh! It took two (2) hours to make just nine (9) of these guys and the last hour ended up being a whatever-strikes-your-fancy-as-there’s-not-enought-clay-to-make-all-the-projects-correctly. Sure you could change the Space Lizard to being blue, but to me, that just screams cheap. Why advertise a color combo you can’t make? If you buy this to make, just keep in mind, you won’t be able to make all 15 projects exactly like they advertise. Also be prepared to be short on clay. We followed the clay ball sizing on each project to the letter and still ran into problems. They only thing I can think of is that the sizing/print size must be off. Further more, these projects can be quite difficult. Don’t expect the little clay guys to turn out exactly like the photos and also be prepared for the pieces to not stick together. We ended up using the pointy end of the tool to push down a tiny bit of clay to try and make them stick better. This worked, but then they looked off. No biggie, right? We can work with that. So, three (3) hours down, in the oven they went. We set everything per the instructions and even baked them for less time than recommended. Pulled them out. MELTED! Are you kidding me? So not only were we frustrated and totally and completely done after two hours of working on this, all that hard work, all that detailing, all that painstaking precision and effort—royally flushed down the toilet! WAY TO FAIL COMPLETELY. Needless to say, you know how I’ll be rating this.+Pros:+Booklet has 15 projects (and is reusable even with other clays)+Comes with a display stand-Cons:-Took 3 hours to complete about 15 projects-Not enough clay to complete everything (I believe the print sizing must be off on the suggested ball size…or they just skimped us; one of the two)-A little too much for a single child to make (you get really, REALLY done by about #5 and we do crafts ALL the time…long ones too)-Blasted thing melted in the oven after all that (we didn’t over bake or have the oven too hot too)Overall, this craft sounds fun, but its incredibly tedious and now because it melted and ruined everything, I now have to go assess the damages and try and make everything right. This was a project to make a little one feel good about herself. That sure worked out fantastic. NOT! 1 out of 5 stars. Way to make a bad day worse.
