This product seems to mash bagels more easily than it does cutting. It didn't mash all five bagels I used it on, but it didn't cut them like I expected either. Maybe the blade is too dull to cut through the bagel. there is no way to sharpen the cutting edge, as the blade is protected by a plastic guard that appears to be riveted to the sliding handle. My bagels had to be pressed into a slicer, the bagel seems too wide to fit in, and if your bagel has seeds or other condiments in it, it will scrape off when put on the guillotine. This is my first time using this product and these bagels were very fresh and soft, maybe this product works better with older hard bagels (more stale).
