This machine requires a little more finger strength to attach the rubber bands than other tofu presses. We find this to be a lot harder than we want to deal with. The belts are quite taut when the press is empty. Once you put the block of tofu in, the top will be much higher and the rubber bands should be pulled much tighter. There are white hooks that can be removed from the top press. Once they come loose, attach the elastics. Then simultaneously press the top and lift the hooks high enough to attach to the top. If you have weakness or arthritis in your arms, it can be painful or impossible. We then discovered that the item was non-refundable, even if it was a Prime item. We try to return the money, but how to do it is not clear.
