and still LOVE. Prints very fast

I've been using this printer for almost 2 weeks, have printed 200-300 pages and so far I LOVE it. Prints very quickly, has automatic two-sided printing and the colors look great! The printer is much quieter than my HP printer and I can make it even quieter than usual using Brother's "Quiet Mode" (see image). It just slows down the printer a bit, but it's nice to have this option as I'm an early riser and don't want to wake my family while I'm printing. This is the quietest printer I've ever used. I've had several HP printers over the years, but I doubt I'll ever buy one again. I've had so many issues with connectivity, print quality, speed, and annoyingly small paper trays. (Really, HP? 150-sheet input trays?). My wife has an HP Laserjet Pro M252dw in her home office and I have a Brother 8260CDW installed in my office to replace my HP M251dw. According to the specs, my wife's HP should print 19ppm and this Brother's should print 33ppm. In practice, this Brother printer is LIGHTLY three times faster. The Brother printer also holds twice as much paper (300 sheets versus 150 for HP printers). We refill the HP printer all the time. Even HP's more comparable model (HP Laserjet Pro M452dw) only prints 28ppm and only holds 250 sheets, although I don't have such a printer so I can't make a direct comparison. The only downside for me is the larger size of the Brother printer (16 x 19 vs 15.5 x 16.5 on my wife's HP), but at this point I'm so tired of constantly adding paper and dealing with poor print quality/ to beat yellowing. Strip that I'm glad to have a slightly larger printer. To be fair, HP's more comparable printer is 16 x 18.5. So if you're looking for a faster color laser printer that performs better than basic entry-level printers, there's really no shortage here. I've thought about buying the Brother HL-3170CDW for a while but it was released in 2011 and I'm having a hard time buying technology from 6 years ago. When it was released last month (March 17th) I grabbed it. I'm glad I waited, it's very fast and quiet... 5 stars.

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Mostly ok but...
