I bought this camera as a backup for my DSLR and when I just want to travel light. So far it hasn't disappointed. First the cons: Like most (if not all) point-and-shoot photography, indoor and flash photos suffer a bit. The flash leaves a harsh metallic tint in the images, and red-eye is a common occurrence. The camera has a zoom out mode but I never use it, I find the "double flash" confuses posing subjects and leads to movement and awkward facial expressions. I also don't like the fact that the branded battery has to be removed from the camera to charge it. Battery life has been great so far, but I haven't tracked how many photos/flashes/image views I can take between plugins. Finally, the camera is a little thicker than I had hoped. Some of the comparable products on the market are significantly thinner. On the plus side, the camera takes great high-resolution outdoor shots. I've had luck with the Auto mode as well as Av, Sv and the various scene modes it offers. Color balance is very accurate with auto white balance, although images taken with the selected white balance settings (neon, indoor) are good too. I also like that an advanced user can increase or decrease the exposure by a fraction of a stop, and I believe the camera can also auto bracket, although I haven't tried it yet. Finally, the menus and interface are very intuitive and easy to understand. If you've worked with digital cameras for a while, you should be able to figure it out without reading the manual. Digital zoom and image stabilisation, the two main advantages of this camera, don't really matter to my shooting style, so I can't comment on either of them. , I know that on the days I take this with me, I'll at least get clean, crisp, high-quality photos of my most memorable moments.
