When I noticed my 14 month old daughter holding my iPhone to her ear and saying "haeeee" I knew I needed her own toy phone to pretend to play . My criteria for this were: 1) I want to limit screen time, so I wanted a relatively simple toy that was somewhat similar to cell phones, with no real "screen" (e.g. no touchscreen) or similar to a real iPhone. , 2) something solid and secure, and 3) ideally with a secondary function besides role-playing, such as B. a phrase or a song. This toy phone fits all 3. Aside from the role play that takes every 2 minutes, I've found this to be my new tool for when she's upset or can't be comforted. I take it on car rides, take it as an extra distraction on the changing table, or when I'm having meltdowns/tantrums. The buttons are easy to press, the tunes are catchy, and the mirrored "screen" is a good distraction. I hope the novelty doesn't get boring; It's a toy I keep in my back pocket (not physically as it's much larger than a real iPhone) to distract and get the child's attention. As for their performance compared to my criteria above, 1) my child was immediately drawn to the specular "screen" as they viewed the distorted reflection. She enjoyed it just as much as pretending to answer the phone. 2) As a parent I was initially concerned about durability as this was my first Infantino product - the plastic didn't look particularly strong but I found it held up to the decent roughness you would expect from a child's bedroom . Play time: chew, tap, drop and throw. The battery compartment is secured with screws. 3) The toy phone is also a mini book where this mirror screen opens into a simple 4 page book with animals, shapes, colors and numbers. The side buttons play phrases and songs that match the images on the page. While educational, I think the pages are quite busy and could get more interesting as she gets older. I think for under $10 this is a great toy. I wish there was a volume control and a mechanism to attach a loop or strap to make it easier to attach or carry around.
