Review on ๐Ÿ’ Cherry Swivel Pub Height Barstool - Lexicon Eschete, 30" SH (Scroll Back) by Nicole Brand

I wanted to love them but they wouldn't let me.

These chairs look good and the cushion is just right. But there are 3 reasons why I decided to return them (I bought 4). The main issue is how the legs attach to the ring which is the footrest. There is a cutout on both pieces so all you have to do is cross them and insert a screw. Classic "half overlap". There is a brass nut you can use to tighten it. But the cutout in the ring is wider than the leg, so it's not tight at all. No matter how much you turn the screws during the day, the whole stool turns. The second is the turning point. These are ball bearings sandwiched between two stamped pieces of metal. It's very tight in a turn, compounding the lack of joinery mentioned above. The steel is also a little flimsy and flexes a lot, so if you get your fingers stuck between the top two wooden rings you could get a nasty pinch. The third problem is minor but annoying nonetheless. Most chair designers know that a chair with a back should have the front of the seat reclined about 3 degrees. These stools are placed flat and not higher directly under the hips. This creates a constant feeling of slipping. If the manufacturer had done a better job of carpentry, seat rotation, and upholstery attachment, they would have received 10 points for cost and 8 points for quality. Whatever the case, I was happy to see them going back to where they came from.

Cons
