I had an existing OWC 13 Thunderbolt hub that worked great. But I added a working MacBook and wanted to switch from one laptop as my primary laptop with a 4K monitor to another laptop with a single click. It just squeaked. Everything sleeps properly and no extra power supplies. Only one Thunderbolt connection per laptop for power, video and USB. And all in 4K. Works perfectly. A 4K monitor can power (a Sabrent) one laptop, an old OWC can power (a Sabrent) another laptop. I couldn't get both laptops to use OWC, but I can live with that. I also have another tiny 4-port USB 3.0 hub that connects to the Sabrent for keyboard, phone, etc. I really want to share OWC because it has ethernet and optical audio. But only a laptop gets it. I don't understand why there is no Thunderbolt 3 A/B box. But I'm wondering how Thunderbolt handles power or patents getting in the way of its existence.
