Review on Wavepoint Universal Replacement Aquarium 24 Watt Fish & Aquatic Pets by Drew Serrano

Worst onion plant.

You'll always know when it's time to change the lamps in your freshwater aquarium. Plant growth slows down to almost zero and plants simply lack vitality. This time I decided to try these lamps instead of my usual brand. What mistake. The old worn out Truelumen Flora bulbs I replaced were still brighter at the end of their year than these new replacement bulbs were on day one. But I decided to leave them and see how the plants behave. The plants kept looking worse. After 2 weeks I decided the trial was over and ordered some reliable TrueLumens. It took another week for them to arrive, by which time some of the plants had already started to thaw. As soon as I returned my trusty old brand, the plants recovered quickly and the tank was healthy and green again. If I was paying attention, the spectral plots between the images at the top of the product page told the story. Don't look at the pretty shapes of the chart, take a closer look at the numbers on the vertical scale on the left. The peak power of red is about 4e-1 W/m2. Now look at the diagrams of other lamps from this company. Other lamps peak at the wrong wavelengths for plants, but if you look at the size of the peaks, they are more than twice the output power. for example more than 8e-1 for the Color Wave model. And that's the problem in a nutshell: These bulbs are weak. Very, very weak. I've tried many different freshwater bulbs over the past 30 years and these are probably the worst of the self-described breeding/growing bulbs.

Pros
