Review on 💅 Orly Nail Rescue Kit: Repair and Revive Damaged Nails by Shelly Pearson

WOW! This works way better than I expected. The nail on my left index finger started cracking along the inside edge, right where the nail bed ends. I tried to fix it with nail glue and coffee filter material. vain. My hair got caught in it when I was blow drying it and it tightened the break even more. Then I noticed that the outer edge also began to crack, to the point where only about 25% of the center nail was intact. I trimmed the nail to length to withstand stress, wrapped the entire nail in duct tape to stabilize it and prayed that this Orly nail repair kit would ship quickly. As soon as it arrived, I prepared the broken nail by removing the gel polish I had, being careful not to widen the gap. I gave the nail a good wash with alcohol and considered applying a gel bonder to it, but decided against it. I followed the Orly kit instructions which are pretty simple: paint the entire affected nail with the glue, dip the entire nail in a tiny bath of powder, shake/shake off excess powder and voila - no more cracks! As instructed, I repeated this process twice since the crack was bad. The immediate result was a slightly thick and lumpy finish somewhat reminiscent of a poorly applied acrylic nail. I used the small buffer that came with the kit and a fine file to smooth everything out. I then wiped the whole thing down again with rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth to prepare it for the next gel application. The gel adhered perfectly to the repaired surface. I was able to use all of the regular gel system finishes with no issues and there was no scorching or anything under the UV light (which I was a bit concerned about). The price of this kit seemed a little high but given the results I would say it was worth it. Seems like you can make many, many repairs from the amount of stuff included. I'm so, so glad I found this, otherwise I'd have to trim the affected nail down to the nail bed (I'm approaching the level of a Kardashian-style nail obsession, so it's just not an option!). I really hope this solution will last at least a week or two if I take off and reapply the current gel color.
