My previous review had one star. It turned out that these were mainly printer-related issues, compounded by the high viscosity of this filament. First of all, this thread just gave me problems halfway through the spool. This filament is very robust compared to Hatchbox PLA or even Hatchbox PETG. For printers with Bowden tubes, this can cause the tube to bounce off the nozzle in the hot end, causing all sorts of problems due to the high viscosity. This caused a droplet to form at the hot end, which further increased the viscosity and caused very uneven extrusion. The hatchbox is also less viscous at lower temperatures and didn't show this problem, but it prints just as well now (except tension) when I printed and added a hotend fixation disc to my Ender 3 V2. Now I can get great prints with this filament. My important settings are: * Layer temperature: 50°C * Nozzle temperature: 235°C, initially 230°C, all other layers * Retraction distance: 4.5mm at 35mm/s (this was important, leads to faster and stronger retraction fact, that my setup is a bit stretchy) I've tried retracting 4-8mm in 0.5mm increments as well as 30-45mm/s in 5mm/s increments all the way. Less important settings: * First layer speed: 35 mm/s * Wall speed: 40 mm/s (Personal preference. You can work a little faster, but there can be a subtle discrepancy. No noticeable advantage if the speed is on a well tuned *High/low speed: 35mm/s*Fill rate: 65mm/s Other settings to look out for are things like fan speed This filament likes higher fan speeds or pulls more Too high a value can reduce layer adhesion Degrade to 100% Stock fan for Ender 3 variants is fine Upgraded fans like Dual 5015 are good for 60-70% after first layer Quiet fan on first layer PID controller tuning helps a lot with consistency of that filament glow as temperature change Ions cause significant viscosity changes Large temperature changes or a drop in the hot end can also occur causing a color change. It should be noted that with this filament the adhesion of layers on small parts is rather poor, much worse than with Hatchbox PLA. This is not an issue for a decorative piece, but any piece that can withstand even a small amount of shearing should be considered. It's also very poor at handling voltages, which lead to distortion in the long term, even in cool environments. I just want this color to be translucent PETG. Haven't found good affordable purple PETG filament yet. I can't find another purple that beautiful even in PLA.
