This tip was purchased for use with a Graco x5 airless sprayer. Considering the tip is also from Graco, the compatibility was perfect. A quick look at nozzle sizes: the first number indicates the width of the spray pattern (so a 413 would have a 4x2 = 8 inch spray pattern). The second two digits indicate the hole size (think how much material is coming out of the spray tip). I loved this particular tip for staining my fence with a translucent water-based stain. The wide 8 inch spray pattern meant I had to make fewer passes to cover the fence and the larger hole size (I could probably use an 11 or 13) meant more stain was applied to the fence. With that in mind, brushing the back was important to achieve good penetration and a professional finish. So don't forget this step! but most conveniently i buy graco brands.
