My boys wear these "swim/sun" style hats as their caps for all the sunny CA weather. However, this version disappointed. I had hoped the larger size range would mean they would last longer, but the toggle adjuster on the back of the head is the deal breaker. It is huge and poked when my boys were sitting in their car seats. At the time some months ago when we tried them, my oldest was 3.5 and my youngest was 2 and they refused to wear them because it hurt and my oldest said he couldn't lay his head against the head rest with it on. Defeats the purpose, as my boys are used to and like wearing their sun hats in the car to protect from glare. Definitely better choice if you only use it for water play/swimming/beach and don't expect kid to wear it in the car. The neck flap was also really short, and did not cover enough of their necks, which is another deal breaker for us. They were immediately returned.
