We have LED cafe lights outside at our gazebo, but the outlet is too difficult to reach regularly. I didn't want to turn on the lights because I didn't want the backyard looking like Christmas every night. Although this device is a photoelectric timer, meaning it detects twilight and sets the time according to the settings you choose, it can also be used as a remote control. The timer is behind the wall, but it has enough reach that I can turn on the lights in the house with a key fob about 15 feet away. The programming itself must be done on the device and cannot be done via the remote control - it is just an on/off key fob. The quality of this timer is excellent. Debbie Lee Wesselman
