I could never have gotten both to work! I charged both before using. I would take both out of the charger (very careful not to press the buttons) and put them in my ears. Only one works and the other just buzzes. I read the instructions and did what they said to get them to pair. Still unsuccessful. I work in engineering and have no problems with devices. They just never worked for me and I'm a patient guy. Even if I could pair them manually, I would miss the intended pairing with the charger. I was very hopeful and I liked the design of the form. My only happy ending is having to return them. You might think that maybe the company could get in touch with you to find out why.
