Don't be fooled by the GAIN settings on this device. This device is just a passive line level converter. Lab results: My main unit's speaker outputs are rated at 30W x 4 RMS at 14.4 VDC. the outputs of a Scosche device with a 1 kHz fixed amplitude tone generator as the input to the main unit. For testing I used the Scosche "Line Out" mode switch. The GAIN setting was set to maximum for all 4 channels of the Scosche device. I set the head unit volume to the reference level and started measuring. Main unit RCA outputs (L and R): 940 mV Scosche FL and FR RCA outputs: 530 mV Scosche RL and RR RCA outputs: 530 mV Virtually no noise or distortion has been added to the Scosche unit output signals. Note, however, that when you connect the amplifier(s) you must adjust the input level of the amplifier to compensate for the small passive losses of Scosche. If you have a cheaper amp with little headroom, this can introduce noise into the amp outputs. All in all, this is a great tool for converting high level signals to low. Highly recommended.
