Bought as a Christmas present for 5 and 13 year olds and overall very good quality and the camouflage print was a big hit. They're simple enough that a 5-year-old can figure out how to use them and loves playing with the different calling options. A set of 3 allows both children to play outside and I keep the third inside to keep an eye on them and their activities. We haven't tested the distance yet, but they work anywhere on our 1/4 acre property with clear reception.

Poor battery life and narrow battery compartment. It is very difficult to remove the batteries and put in new, fresh batteries. The clip is detachable, eliminating one hurdle, but you still have to take the batteries out and really slide them. It is difficult for small children to press the power button. When the batteries work, the walkie-talkies themselves work fine, but what's the point if the batteries die after a few days? Kids love the flashlight function and the straps.
