I wouldn't highly recommend avoiding these clips (unless you really enjoy clipping your shelves over and over again). You are useless. They came with the shelves in my house and when my first shelf broke down I went and bought the same ones thinking I might have overloaded the shelf and replaced them. I put about half the weight on the same shelf, but for a little over a year the same shelf collapsed again while I was on vacation. Two other shelves in my house that used the same cheap, poorly made plastic Rubbermaid clips also collapsed. I've since replaced them with a competitor's metal clips because for some reason Rubbermaid doesn't make metal clips. The metal clips work great and I haven't had any problems for over a year. The metal clip rack feels solid, and my leftover plastic Rubbermaid clips are long gone in the bin where they always belong.
