I own a Dell XPS L702X laptop. I ordered this adapter so I can connect second monitors and projectors that require a VGA port. My laptop runs Windows 7 and Ubuntu/Kubuntu. For Linux operating system, this adapter needs to be plugged into the computer when it is first turned on, otherwise the Linux operating system will not recognize it. However, most people use Windows and will be happy to know that on the Win7 side it's completely plug-n-play and doesn't require a reboot. that you may see a very slight "shaking" of the image on the screen when displaying certain colors on the screen. This is NOT happening with my other Epson projector, neither with the Samsung flat screen nor the Dell flat screen that I own. All other devices I have connected to it work fine. It should just be a rare compatibility issue with my graphics card's display settings, that particular monitor's color settings, or both. I don't think others will have this experience.
