Accuracy - although there are no perfectly accurate scales, I tried the diet and when I compared the results from Tanita to Withings, Tanita's accuracy matched my fat measurements, and Withings turned off completely. Withings Smart Body Analyzer provided results with large variations in accuracy. Confused I sent it back and to be thorough tried a different color and sadly still the same problem. If you just want basic scales, get Withings, but if they need to be somewhere in the ballpark, you need to check out Tanita. Interface - I used to have an older model Tanita so I had blue/red/green lights. reporting good/bad values was a plus. However, the third-party app and user interface on the Tanita scale is just terrible. I hope there is an application that offers better synchronization with a smartphone. This is where Withings shines. However, as mentioned above, accuracy was a real issue. So if you want a basic scale, get the Withings model. It's not a perfect product, but there is room for improvement. With the best application, this scale can be amazing. Keep in mind that it takes thousands of dollars worth of machines to accurately determine body composition, but for a few hundred dollars I'm willing to buy a Tanita.
