Review on Dell E2318Hx LED Lit Monitor: High-Definition Display with Flicker-Free Technology and IPS Panel by Eldorado Prix

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Died after almost 2 years of use

I bought two of these in November 2020 to replace some old HP Pavilion 22XWs I bought in 2017. I'm using a dual monitor setup. One of them is still holding on. The other won't turn on. At first it started turning off and on randomly until one day it turned back on. I expect that at some point the other one will also fail with me - not a good feeling. I like the screen width and found the color modes and menus appealing. That's the only reason I give it 3 stars - it did the job. My recommendation: don't take it. Load. We need more durable products than we've always had, and most importantly, for the sake of the environment. Ironically, this product also has some sort of "Climate Pledge Friendly" badge attached to it. Don't buy it. I was hoping to recommend a good monitor in this performance range at the time of writing this review. I'm still looking but I think I'll gradually replace these Dell monitors with HP X24ih. The HP X24ih comes with HP's standard 3-year warranty, which I take as a sign that they're better built than Dell's. Of course, there's no way to learn about these things unless you have access to parts sheets and electronics knowledge, or until they fail you.
