Review on ❄️ Ice Up by Pro-Tec by Gillian Ahn

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The best option if you don't have instant access to a freezer. Can cause severe icing on multiple parts of the body.

I bought this to freeze my shins after ballet class. Pros: - Suitable for glazing anywhere you don't have access to a freezer that can store a pack of gel for a couple of hours during a workout. - An ice pack can do that too, but I find that ice packs (I don't mean gel packs) don't flex to conform to your body. You might rub the ice pack when rubbing this thing, but it's pretty clumsy in practice. You'll need a lot of volume to insulate the ice pack - probably more than the size of this thing, and it won't get the job done. - Rubbing ice directly seems to be the best way with ice, really. You can grate ice cubes, but the plastic parts on top really make holding ice more comfortable and give you surprisingly good pressure control. As already mentioned above, the parts are very comfortable and functional to use. quite a long time - you can freeze multiple body parts - I never use ice fully in one session. yourself (unless you are outside). I don't see how that would help - you would need a lot of volume to insulate something and keep it cold. Not really Cons: - I recommend wrapping the entire case in plastic while it's in your pocket as it may drip a little as it slowly melts over several hours. In my opinion no problem. The only problem is that forgetting it and putting it in your pocket while driving with something very liquid sensitive like paper without protection would be a silly mistake. - I think you might be a little clumsy using this - the ice dispenser can jam depending on how you freeze it, but a minute of warming in your hands will fix that, and just a little observation and track and error will teach you how to avoid it. Tip if you have this problem: remember that water expands when it freezes, and while the water may be in the right place when filling your cup - in the freezer it can expand enough to cover the sliding parts - so experiment with adding a little less water before freezing until you find the right spot (and you can even mark the spot with a small scratch. Compared to an ice pack: - This is a better alternative as the ice pack stays cold less long and requires just as much, if not more, volume to stay frozen. This ice massager requires more effort because you actually have to hold and rub it, but it has its advantages (you can massage and locate the points.) - Another advantage of ice packs is that they don't drip, but I don't mind using a small piece of cloth to catch the drips - egg Bags do not bend to fit well on multiple body parts (shins, elbows, feet, head, shoulder, etc.) - I AM NOT A FAN OF ICEPACKS FOR REASONS RELATED TO AND UNRELATED TO DIFFERENCES WITH THIS PRODUCT. Comparison to gel packs: First of all, gel packs don't stay cold as long. Each gel pack gives you about 5 minutes of cold plus 15 minutes of cold. It might be good enough for some issues, but it certainly doesn't do what the frosting would. If you have more than one ice place, you need to freeze a few hours beforehand. a few hours before and at the training location (rarely happens) - gel packs need a few hours to cool down sufficiently. Therefore, even if you have a freezer, you should make sure to insert the gel packs 2 hours before the end of the training session. Gel packs are better suited for very small processing if you have a freezer right next to you at the right time. TO LEAVE IT HOURS BEFORE YOU NEED IT. Compared to gel pack:-

Pros
  • Effective treatments in 5-10 minutes. around 20 min. for passive ice packs
Cons
  • So far so good
