Met Expecations: my feedback

I bought this wheelbarrow just over 2 years ago and it has pretty well lived up to its billing. I initially used it to haul 2 pallets (about 100 bags) of cement bags (loading 4 bags x 60 lbs per load) over 100' away from the curbside to the backyard. It went surprisingly quick - took about 2 hours.Diving in: It has a variable speed throttle (with forward/reverse switch) that works as expected. At the high-end it is a pretty brisk walk to keep up. It has much more power than I expected (I live on a hillside in the foothills of Colorado with a 25% grade) and it has no issues. With 250 pounds on 15% grade you can tell it is working, but seems to manage fine. In fact, with a little pressure, it will climb the stairs empty (where I park it behind the house). The pan and frame are durable and have held up well (better than previous wheelbarrows I purchased at HD). Even with all the cactus, I have not had a flat tire (yet). I do like that when it tilts forward it is flush to the ground, which was very useful for moving large rocks (a few hundred pounds). The batteries, even after 2 years, are hitting 12 volts each (just over 24 volts in series), and I rarely need to charge them. But note that I do park it in the garage over the winter to reduce weather exposure. So what don't I like? Not much. The only unexpected incident was that it stopped suddenly working this summer. Of course, at a rotten time as I was moving large boulders for edging (although I still used it to move them, just without the motor power). I could not find the repair number, which was irritating. So after a few weeks I decided to tear into it looking for a quick fix. As I did so, I saw the bright sticker stating the support number for Great Circle by the battery housing (I didn't think to look there). I called and they answered, and after sending them verifying purchase and failure information, they recommended replacing the motor controller. The new one was looks a bit different (slightly bigger too). It connected easy, but I did need to punch a hole into the battery housing so that it would fit. Once installed, the wheelbarrow worked like a charm, but the acceleration seems less responsive.

Pros

Cons
  • It may not be as customizable as a traditional wheelbarrow
