I have been using this product for 3 weeks now and I am satisfied with the appearance and performance. The noise level is higher than I expected and it felt like the left fan was blowing air out instead of sucking it in. But overall, the ventilation performance is better than the previously used 200CFM microwave fan. was on the digital display - in use for a few weeks, the last digit seems to be missing from the top half - so a nine would appear as a five and an eight would appear as a 6. I didn't expect come out so soon! I plan on contacting the company to see what they can do about it. The rating is updated on this basis. Follow up: Spoke to Calvin - very helpful and replacement display unit shipped quickly; Something about the display unit I had on the hood may have been missed during QA testing. I wasn't too happy that I had to replace it after the fact because it's a little boring. There are videos on YouTube that help and it can be done, but generally nobody expects to have to do this after installing a new device. It also takes some skill to set up as perfectly as the device installed by the company. It would be ideal if this part were carefully tested before installing it on the device. Regarding the ventilation issue, Clavin suggested that I remove the damper on the unit (the part that the vent tube attaches to; the part that opens or closes when you turn the hood on/off). Again, this is the information you will want BEFORE installing the vent and cabinets around the hood/vent. This upgrade cost me more money and some renovations in my office. This is information that I think should be included in the installation guide. While I strongly believe in both issues I've had, I'm only deducting one star because I feel the range hood is doing the job I expected - I can roast in my kitchen and don't feel like that we fumigated her house with oil! It also gets rid of most cooking odors - if you enjoy cooking/frying with red onions, you can still smell them - I think it has more to do with the onions than the vent.
