I have an iogear USB2.0 reader (green) that has served me well for a few years. I have now upgraded my computer to USB 3.0 so I figured it would be better to up the ante and get a 3.0 capable reader. Below are the tests I tried because I'm, you know, a geek. I copied a folder containing several files with a total size of 1.60 GB. backwards compatible with USB2.0) 1st card - microSDHC SanDisk 16GB class 2iogear USB2.0 - copied at 5:50, deleted at :47pixelflash USB3.0 - copied at 5:35, deleted at :392. Card - microSDXC SanDisk 64GB class 10iogear USB2.0 - copied at 3:29 deleted at: 12pixelflash USB3.0 - copied at 3:10 deleted at: 11. I connected directly to the back of the motherboard and tested with a Class 10 USB2 64GB Cardigear repeats .0. - copied at 3:32 deleted at: 12pixelflash USB3.0 - copied at 3:15 deleted at: 09 I'm in no way claiming that this will be the experience of everyone who uses it, but be aware that You may not get the results you want by doing this. It's clear that the speed boost is related to the card itself and not the USB3.0 bus. Heck, did this thing run SLOWER when I connected it directly to my mobile device? What a pity. I will not scold the Pixelflash reader. I give it 5 stars because it reads well and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Instead I'll rant USB3.0, that's not all. I just read an article on Tom's Hardware that explained block passing and all these other things that are too complicated even for me. In short, it says what all interfaces are - they advertise speed as POSSIBLE, not what will actually happen. Update: 16 hours later, Spotlight Media sent me a response within HOURS of my post. They gave me a list of possible solutions to my problem, the biggest of which was of course DRIVERS! You need to install drivers! *geek blushes, feels silly* If you read the answer to this post, you'll see their suggestions. I ended up using the drivers from my motherboard manufacturer's website. The fact is that after a few hours they offered their help. This is clearly a quality company and they care about their products and the customer experience. If you need a reader, look no further.
