Review on Katadyn Hiker PRO Replacement Cartridge by Amber Davis

Edit: I have changed the star rating. Katahdin reacted in time and is aware of the situation. It looks like they had a production run error that resulted in a small batch of defective filters being released. They send me a new filter. I've been using Hiker for decades when it was still PUR. I have a lot of experience with cartridge life and water quality. I usually change every two years or so and always use an MSR SiltStopper on the inlet to prevent premature clogging. Until recently, the cartridge never failed while paddling in the field. The filter was almost impossible to pump even after cleaning in the field. The dirty filter wasn't visibly dirty, but I replaced it in hopes of restoring pump performance. This filter cartridge was bought in October 2018, used on two trips, has pumped out less than 15 liters and has always been used with the SiltStopper. Either the batch is bad or the filter material has been changed. I have contacted Katahdin.
