I've only been able to test this in the US, but the performance isn't impressive. For some reason it gets activated. Even if you just accidentally turn it on, the overpriced plan will start the countdown. WARNING: If you plan to use it on vacation and turn it on before that vacation, you'll have to buy more overpriced data in 30 days! I was planning on using it abroad with a Google Fi data SIM, hoping to replace my two-year-old global Huawai hotspot with something a little faster, but this RoamWifi offers less than half the bandwidth of the older Huawai on a Google Fi SIM. Compared to a Netgear hotspot with an AT&T RoamWifi SIM card, it barely achieves 10% of Netgear's performance. Settings are pretty limited too - while you can change the Wi-Fi password, you can't change the SSID, which is basically the world you're a tourist in. Once you've changed your Wi-Fi password, the device happily displays it on its small screen, so there's really no way to secure it. I returned it and will use my Huawai.
