Where do I start? The nozzle plate welded into the sump fell into the nozzle plate on the engine. I had to use a 6 inch cutting wheel and completely remove it from the pan. Next, the oil pump hit the front wall of the oil pan. The solution was BFH to knock out the sump to make some room to clean the pump and place the sump on top of the motor and yes I tried moving the pump but it only made things worse. As a result, 1/2 of the bottom of the pan remained. Not ideal, but no problem. The dipstick tube will not go back into the sump because the sump is not properly shaped for the dipstick to slide past and into the sump. Had to shorten the dipstick tube to just 2 1/4" where it meets the factory dipstick position 5". Can't run it with the dipstick as the dipstick is very thin and could cause problems inside so it's a cap. The drain plug, as others say, leaks through the copper and through the rubber washer. Based on the timing, I probably should have paid just $250 for a GM factory pan, but hey, sometimes it just takes MacGyver to beat it. Much luck
