I bought mine when DTS and Dolby Digital receivers were new and expensive. When this model came onto the market, it was a real price breaker for us bargain hunters. I've had no issues (including hiss) with mine and am really enjoying it on both DVD and CD. I bought good cables, I have decent infinity speakers and it will sound as loud as you want. There are probably products as good or better in this price range NOW, but when it came out it was really good value.
