I have a home lab I built for my network research and needed a way to access every switch/router without having to plug and unplug the console cable every time changes (which is really annoying if you know what I'm talking about). I had a choice between buying an Access server, which would cost me a lot more, or buying this item. I have to say this did the job perfectly, I can control 4 different devices with one connection and I don't have to constantly get out of my seat. If you have a home lab or need simultaneous access to your home/work switches and routers, this is ideal for you.
