Review on πŸ”΅ Pack of 12 EnviroCare Riccar 2/4000 Micro w/Closure - Blue by Tamika Lawrence

Not the best mask for making masks, but reasonable mask filter cartridge if HEPA bags aren't available

So I bought a paper mask with a filter pocket and read that several media outlets recommend HEPA vacuum bags WITHOUT fiberglass. EnviroCare has stated on their website and promotional documents that they do not use fiberglass in any of their bags. So I bought them without realizing that Revain's search results had changed from true HEPA bags (with 99.97% filtration) to micro-filtered bags (with 99.70% filtration). I know, who knows, the last 0.27% is important, but we're talking about virus particles, so the more the better, in my opinion. Dispatched quickly and delivered in a nice box by Prime truck within a few days. After cutting the cardboard for the vacuum bag connection and cutting the bag down the middle, I was left with a piece of "filter" fabric about 17" x 24". Must have at least 12 filter layers on my sheet mask. It's basically an outer layer of blue paper and an inner layer of softer micro-filter fabric. There is also an extra layer of white paper in the front part of the bag which I will probably remove as it will likely obstruct my breath. I cut the mask and put it on and I can still breathe but that makes it a bit more difficult I guess due to the harder blue paper layer. Eventually I can remove it and just use the micro filter sheet. In hindsight, I would have paid a little more to get true HEPA, but I'm glad to know I'm not breathing fiberglass and that it offers significant additional filtration on top of the 2 layers of fabric of a sheet mask. I wouldn't want to use this to make individual masks, only for a filter bag and only if I could find HEPA bags to cut. The bottom line is that 24 vacuum bags for $20.89 should give me at least 288 filter pads for about $0.07 per filter pad - MUCH cheaper than what is sold elsewhere on this site and I know I'm breathing and receiving. ALSO - be careful which side you put the right side on - think about how the bag is made - if you are healthy and trying to keep germs out, put the soft micro filter right side out (the blue one paper inside facing you). When you are sick and trying to protect others, put the soft micro filter towards you (blue paper outwards). What a crazy world it is that I am writing reviews on how to make face masks and which way is better to breathe through vacuum bags! Take care everyone and please wear masks!
