Comparison of 5 bedding options for guinea pigs

Here is a comparison of 5 types of bedding I have tried for my guinea pig. Carefresh is my top choice for odor control, moisture absorption and ease of cleaning. Touch his feet and soak the urine from them. The pads felt very wet and leaked a bit because the guinea pig was urinating so much. I suppose I could have put a few towels over it to help with absorption, but by this point I was tired of removing the hay from the washing machine and the pet hair from my clothes. The guinea pig also stepped on his poop and grabbed it with his paws, so I had to be vigilant when removing the poop. I give them 2 because they fool around and don't keep my pet clean. 2) Aspen chips - the cheapest bedding. Pleasant woody scent. Not very good absorbency - I can see moisture at the bottom of the cage when I pick it up. Depending on the brand, you may need to be careful of sharp pieces of wood. I give them a 3 for no absorbency but good odor control. 3) CritterCare - small pieces feel hard like cardboard. They also compact easily and the droppings stay on top, meaning the guinea pig will step on the droppings and often get stuck in their paws. Moisture is clearly visible, making it easy for me to remove soiled linens, and odor control is pretty good. It expands to about 2x its volume after you break the pieces with your fingers. I give them 4 points for good absorption and odor removal but poop on the paws. 4) Carefresh - Similar to CritterCare in terms of moisture absorption, expansion and odor control. The pieces are much softer and not as compact as the CritterCare, although sometimes feces get caught on his paws. I don't like blue bedding because it turns his privates blue (unhealthy). I give them a 4.5 for good absorption, odor control and texture. 5) Kaytee is shredded tissue paper that expands 3-4 times its volume from a pouch. At first I was so excited because it looked and felt like soft fluffy snow. This seems to make the guinea pig's fur and paws cleaner. Unfortunately these things make the carpet very dirty when they are on their way to and from the cage. The pieces are so thin and small and tend to fall all over the place. It also tends to stick together, making it difficult to separate smudges from clean linens. Also, Kaytee's bedding doesn't absorb odors well and doesn't retain moisture well as I can see liquid at the bottom of the cage under the wet bedding. I put 3 for convenience but for an unpleasant odor.
