Review on πŸ”₯ Powerful WAVLINK AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Router: High Speed, Long Range, and Gigabit Ethernet for Home Office by Bill Lyons

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Fast and stable but needs gigabit ethernet ports

I've been using it actively for over 2 weeks and use it as a 2nd router providing Wi-Fi at one end of my house (2 routers connected via ethernet). He provides Wi-Fi for the Revain Firestick in my media room and my home office so it works well. It replaced an old "wall mount" Wi-Fi extender that kept getting very hot and eventually became unstable. There are no problems with WavLink yet. I find it stays cool despite its bandwidth (faster processor?) when my old WiFi extender was replaced. Fine for my purposes - if you need to define transit ports or static LAN addresses in DHCP, buy a high-end router. (However, you can override the default DNS servers (e.g. 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8) to prevent your local ISP from catching "server not found" in your web browser.) But for most This router is sufficient for technically inexperienced people. The only thing I would like is 1Gbps ethernet ports instead of 10/100Mbps ports. Again, most people won't notice a difference (until they get a gigabit connection from their ISP and want to stream 4K video). [Apparently the manufacturer no longer sells this particular model; its replacement (WN530HG4) has Gigabit Ethernet ports.]
